Cuba’s national electric grid lost power on Monday, leaving roughly 10 million on the island without power.Cuban authorities still cannot explain what caused the blackout.
Cuba’s state-owned electrical utility Unión Eléctrica (UNE), said they had reconnected central Cuba to the grid, but eastern and western portions of the country remain in the dark.
Cuba has been struggling with energy, from old infrastructure and U.S. imposed oil blockades, leaving the country to have blackouts regionally often, and for days at a time.”
