Elijah Iraheta

Hi — I’m Elijah Iraheta, founder and journalist at Saber News.
I’m based in Utah, and I started Saber News because I wanted a place to do the kind of reporting I care about. If I’m writing about a bill, I’ve actually read the bill. If I’m writing about a court case, I’ve pulled the filing myself. If its included in the story I can tell you exactly where I got it, and how I checked it. I’d rather show you the receipts than ask you to just trust me.
Often times, the difference between reality and a distorted version of it comes down to one more question. That’s why I became a journalist, I just ask so many questions. The point of Saber isn’t for you to trust me over everyone else. It’s to get you asking the same question yourself. Question what you’re told. Question the headlines. Question me too. If what I’m writing isn’t adding up, check for yourself instead of rolling with it.
I’m a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), and I hold myself to the same verification standards you’d find in any major newsroom. I just happen to be the only person in the Saber newsroom, for now.
If you want to see how I actually do this, or reach out about a story, I’d love to hear whatever you have to say.
