Russia launched an attack through last night striking Kyiv killing at least 14 people and 6 others in surrounding regions, making gaps in Ukrainian air defense capabilities clear.
Russia utilized 68 missiles and 351 attack drones, according to a post on X from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In the same post Zelenskyy asked for support saying “It is critically important that the world – first and foremost the United States and our European partners – come out of the NATO Summit in Ankara with strong decisions in support of our air defense, and thus the protection of ordinary people’s lives.”
Ukraine runs low on Patriot missiles, making it difficult to defend against Russian missiles. “ As long as Patriot missiles remain in our allies’ stockpiles, Russia is only encouraged to keep ‘vanquishing’ residential buildings.” The United States and Europe have enough strength to stop this terror.” Zelenskyy said in his post on X.
The strikes have killed at least 14 people in Kyiv and six others in surrounding regions making 20 deaths. CBS reports at least 60 injured. The toll is not final, as rescuers continue their search.
Russia’s defence ministry said its forces conducted a “massive” attack, with long-range, high precision, weapons and drones. They also said they struck military and energy facilities in Kyiv and its surrounding regions.
This strike comes only days after the deadliest strike on Kyiv that killed 31 last Thursday.
